This flotilla sailing holiday starts in Sukošan (near Zadar) in Croatia. It's a perfect sailing holiday for families, but everyone is welcome - from beginners to experienced sailors. From the same marina we sail two different routes that alternate weekly: a North route and a South route. On this page you'll find the full day-by-day itinerary of both routes, so you can choose which week fits your holiday plans best. Close to Zadar Airport

The departure marina is very close to Zadar Airport. Flying into Split also works well - it's about 75 minutes by car from Split Airport to D-Marin Dalmacija Marina in Sukošan. If you're driving from the Netherlands, it's roughly 1500 km from the middle of the country. The departure marina lies right next to the Kornati Islands, an archipelago of around 140 islands full of secluded bays, beautiful harbours and authentic villages.

The sailing climate in Croatia

Croatia is a top destination for sailors thanks to its favourable sailing climate. The country has warm summers averaging around 30 degrees Celsius and mild winters. In summer, a pleasant north-westerly wind called the 'Maestral' provides perfect sailing conditions. The Adriatic Sea also has crystal-clear water, making sailing even more enjoyable.

As a starting point for your sailing adventure in Croatia, Sukošan is an excellent choice. The town lies close to Zadar and has a modern marina with all the facilities you need. From Sukošan you can easily explore the Kornati Islands, known for their spectacular scenery and unspoilt nature.

Day 1

Check-in Sukošan
Today you can relax and get to know our flotilla guides. Prepare the last things before the big adventure begins! From 5pm you can start checking in to your own sailing yacht or catamaran.

Day 2

South Route - Sukošan - Zizanj
Good morning! We start our day with a skipper's briefing in the marina of Sukošan. After the briefing our holiday truly begins, and we sail about 15 nautical miles south to the beautiful island of Zizanj. In the evening we all enjoy dinner together on Zizanj.

Day 3

South Route - Zizanj - Zakan
We continue our sailing trip to the Kornati Archipelago, after a night at anchor. This paradise consists of no fewer than 140 islands, 110 of which are part of the National Park. We anchor at Zakan, an ideal stop after weaving between the many islands.

Day 4

South Route - Zakan - Prvic
On Tuesday we sail to Prvic, one of the safest harbours in the area. We have reserved berths, so everyone is guaranteed fresh water, electricity and a safe place to moor. In the evening you can eat on board or dine in one of the traditional konobas.

Day 5

South Route - Prvic - Skradin
Today we sail to the inland town of Skradin, passing small islands and crossing the Krka river under two bridges. We have reserved berths and a group dinner planned. You can also take a dinghy from Skradin to the Krka river gorge or visit the Krka waterfalls.

Day 6

South Route - Skradin - Murter
After a fresh breakfast and coffee, we sail back east to the beautiful island of Murter. Murter is a small, cosy village with narrow streets, colourful houses and cosy restaurants.

Day 7

South Route - Murter - Sukošan
As we sail back to Sukošan on the last day (22 nautical miles), you have full freedom to plan your own day. You have until 5pm to sail back to the marina at your own pace. A great way to end the South route!

Day 8

North Route - Sukošan - Muline
Muline is an idyllic village on the island of Ugljan. This charming village sits on the west coast of the island and offers beautiful views over the Adriatic Sea. Muline is known for its lovely sandy beaches, clear water and peaceful atmosphere.

North Route - Muline - Pantera
Pantera is a small, quiet village on the island of Dugi Otok. Pantera is known for its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear water. One of the most popular beaches is Saharun Beach, a stunning white sandy beach surrounded by pine trees.

Day 10

North Route - Pantera - Premuda
Premuda is a small, uninhabited island in northern Croatia. The crystal-clear water around Premuda is ideal for snorkelling and diving. You can also enjoy the quiet, secluded beaches and bays surrounding the island.

Day 11

North Route - Premuda - Olib
The village on the island of Olib has a typical Mediterranean atmosphere with narrow streets and traditional houses. Olib has no cars on the island, making it a lovely place to walk and cycle. The local population is very hospitable and friendly.

Day 12

North Route - Olib - Zaton
Zaton is a picturesque village near Zadar. The village sits on a beautiful bay and has an atmospheric promenade where you can enjoy the sunset.

Day 13

North Route - Zaton - Sukošan
On the last day of this route we sail from Zaton back to the marina at Sukošan. We make the most of our last day at sea, sailing along the beautiful coastline and stopping at secluded beaches and bays for one more swim in the crystal-clear water.

The last day of your holiday in Croatia has arrived. Some fly home from Zadar or Split, while others stay a little longer to explore the area - or switch to the other route (North or South) for a complete two-week adventure!

What's the difference between the North and South route from Sukošan?

Both routes depart from the same D-Marin Dalmacija Marina and alternate weekly. The South route passes Zizanj, Zakan, Prvic, Skradin and Murter. The North route passes Muline, Pantera, Premuda, Olib and Zaton. You can book either one, or both routes back-to-back for a full two-week adventure without sailing the same route twice.

Where does the Sukošan flotilla depart from?

This beautiful flotilla departs from D-Marin Dalmacija Marina, a large but well-organised marina with excellent facilities.

What are the departure times for the Sukošan flotilla?

Departure times are set in advance and communicated with participants. The briefing is usually around 9am. It's important to be on time so we can depart on schedule and have a full day of sailing.

Do I need a boating license to join a flotilla in Croatia?

Our Tubber flotilla in Croatia requires a valid boating license and sufficient sailing experience. Rules are getting stricter each year, so we recommend obtaining your Sailing License 1 and 2 (ICC) before departure.

Can I join this Sukošan flotilla without sailing myself?

Yes. You can join as a passenger on the mother ship during the flotilla.

Is the Sukošan flotilla suitable for children?

Absolutely! The sailing conditions are great and the area is perfect for short sails between bays. Ideal if you're sailing with (young) children! Our flotillas always consist of a maximum of 10 boats.

What are the average daily distances during the Sukošan flotilla?

We sail roughly 12 to 25 nautical miles per day on average, depending on weather and the group's wishes. There's always time for a lunch stop in a beautiful bay before sailing on to the day's destination.

Do I sail independently in a flotilla or always with the group?

During the flotilla you sail with the comfort of an experienced mother ship and you're not expected to stay with the group at all times. Feel free to take a dip in a bay you discovered yourself.

Is it better to fly or drive to Sukošan?

You can either fly or drive to Sukošan. From Split Airport it's about 75 minutes by car to the flotilla's marina. From Zadar it's about a quarter of an hour.
