We enjoyed a wonderful week with beautiful weather on a ship that sailed well.
We do have a few comments, however, about the condition of the ship when it was handed over to us.
The ship had only been cleaned so-so, but of course you don’t want to start complaining right away.
The cutlery consisted of knives, forks, and spoons, but there were no serving spoons, no kitchen knives, and no glasses other than thick beer mugs. That’s not how you want to drink a glass of wine.
There was a coffee filter, but no (thermos) pot to brew the coffee in.
(These items were provided when we asked for them, but of course they should have been on board to begin with).
There was only one lid for a very small pot, not for the other pots. We didn’t realize this until we wanted to cook something the next day.
There was a significant amount of water in the bilge, which we were told was normal and came from the air conditioner. On previous boats we’d rented, there was no water at all, so that was a strange answer.
Both bathrooms had a musty smell, but we thought it would go away once we started using the boat. It turned out later that the drains were clogged. During the week itself, we followed the instructions to the letter and did not flush any paper down the toilet (we own a boat ourselves and know all about it), and we always operated the levers to empty the tanks while out in open water.
When we returned the boat, we were accused of being responsible for one of the two blockages. We didn’t accept that, and after a phone call with the boss, we didn’t have to pay the blockage fee after all.
It was particularly (unhygienic) to see the Yacht4You staff using the hose meant for filling the fresh water tanks to clear the blockage in the wastewater tanks.
Defects:
The underwater light wasn’t working. Upon returning to the harbor, we were told that it wasn’t even installed. This is mentioned on the website, though.
The anchor light wasn’t working.
Neither was the light on the port-side compass.
The shower door in the aft bathroom rattled the entire trip. There was a small hole in the wall where a clamp must have once been. The gentlemen conducting the final inspection did not seem inclined to fix this for the next customer.
In the photos on the website, you can see four gray cushions in the cockpit so you can lean against something. There wasn’t a single one, and when we asked for them, it turned out to be quite a hassle. Eventually
two turned up, along with a third one that was completely different. We just had to make do with those.
All in all, we had a great time for a week on a boat that sailed well.
It’s a shame that, as customers, we had to go to so much trouble to get what’s normally expected when you rent a boat like this. Previous sailing trips in Kaštela and Zadar were much simpler, more complete, and cleaner.
