Poor 1. The boat: is aged and dated in a number of ways: walking deck is worn out, plastic grit surface around cockpit is worn off therefore slippery (falls), anchor system is part manual/ not well functioning electric control and risk full in operation, serious plumbing stench problem in right rear cabin due to adjoining toilet/ washroom. Basic equipment like deck scrubber not present, 2. The sailing ramble: The skipper/owner is very experienced and knows area like the back of his hand, beautiful route sailed and beautiful bays and harbors visited. However, the skipper is very elderly which has a negative impact on responsiveness and flexibility in acting and functioning. Initially the crew was not in order which had a negative impact on the sense of safety of the participants. The group had a strong discussion with the skippers. After 5 days a capable second co-skipper was flown in, which improved the safety and atmosphere on board. There was no transparency on the board cash spending. Besides the € 400 board cash pp, group orders were regularly made at preferred restaurants which were just too expensive (with 2 boats, 4 crew members are kept free!). This was not okay and put unnecessary stress on the atmosphere. I wish the skipper/owner much more sailing fun and the understanding that age is starting to be a detrimental factor in guiding safe vacations. Leave execution of business to young skippers and have fun on your own small sailboat. 3. Role Tubber: not clearly communicated beforehand that you are 1 of several intermediaries who supply participants for this trip executed by a third company. Therefore I was not able to check the company (bluewatersailing) in advance. Result is a travel company with different expectations/trip goals (sailors, singles, no idea what to expect). I had clearly communicated an active sailing trip as a desire in advance. That succeeded in part thanks to the co-skipper flown in and my own proactive attitude. Did I have a good vacation : yes, thanks to the active attitude of the group to make something of it together and with the nice and good co-skipper flown in. And by addressing the skipper/owner on his behavior and attitude. Too bad this was necessary, in that sense we as participants ourselves turned the trip for the better.
