Greece has passed Croatia as favorite destination in sailing vacations. Croatia is no longer the most popular sailing destination among sailors from the Benelux. Croatia was number one for years, and for good reason. The phenomenal sailing areas, many islands, a multitude of available yachts and the rich culture made Croatia the perfect destination for sailing vacations.

We have conducted research that has shown that Greece is now the most booked location. Greece has always been a popular destination among sailing enthusiasts, yet experienced a major dip during the crisis. Now that the economy has rebounded, sailors are once again flocking to beautiful Greece.

What makes Greece extra attractive are the often cheaper prices. This is mainly because the restaurants and ports are not that expensive in Greece compared to Croatiaë, where you often pay the top price. Over the years, the most popular region's in Greece such as Kos, Rhodes and Athens have become a bit more expensive, but the price is still not too bad.

For experienced and less experienced sailors

Sailing in Greece is perfect for experienced and less experienced sailors. What makes Greece especially attractive are its many cultural attractions. Every village has a bar where the locals have a coffee. The Egeïsche Sea, Sporades and Cyclades are fantastic areas for beautiful sailing, where the Ionian Sea in turn is perfect for the novice sea sailor.

Should I still visit Croatia?

Although Croatia has been overtaken again as the most popular destination, this takes nothing away from the beauty of the country. The beautiful blue sea combined with perhaps the best ports in Europe makes Croatia still a perfect boating vacation destination. Especially now that the weather seems to be getting quieter in the country, it might be the ideal place for sailors for their next boating vacation.

HISWA Boat Show Amsterdam

An ideal time to gather lots of information about all the Ins & Outs regarding sailing vacations is the HISWA event at the RAI in Amsterdam. This event will take place from March 10 to 14, 2021 with many attractions and activities for both young and old.
