How to exchange?

Since 2014, a boating license is valid indefinitely and therefore no longer needs to be renewed every five years. So we recommend everyone, if you have not already done so, to exchange your license to a new model. That way, your license will be valid indefinitely and you won't have any surprises. Read our item on how to exchange your old license.

No license

If you don't have a boating license yet, get it soon! Read here when you need a boating license.

Since January 1, 2020, the CBR will take the recreational boating exams. At the moment there is no practical exam yet, but as soon as it comes, you can count on it becoming a lot more expensive. We can divide it into the Small Boating License I and II and the Large Pleasure Boating License. The CBR has taken over this task from VAMEX. You don't have to worry, the exams that the CBR administers are similar in content to the VAMEX exams. The exam fees are also almost the same.

You can contact the CBR to book the recreational boating exams at one of 20 locations across the country.
