Poor Finding the right boat was very easy. I especially liked that they negotiated a good deal with the best rental company. The rental company itself was also pleasant. Nice people and helpful. We had an issue with the anchor winch in Poros. In 3 hours a new one had arrived from Athens by ferry and was fitted so we could get on again. Handling of that was also neat. I found the boat itself mediocre. The two bathrooms stank badly. The jabsco toilets and drains need to be replaced as the pit smell hangs throughout the ship. Even with a week of sailing with the hatches open, the smell is not gone. Besides, quite a used boat with a lot of damages. Not bad, but it gives you the impression that it is all a bit old and broke. I'm quite an avid sailor myself and know I'm demanding. If you just want to sail nicely from island to island and anchor a bit, then just ignore my next comment. After all, the boat does that just fine. In terms of sailing, I found the Sun Odyssey 440 very sluggish because of its width at the back. You really stick to the water. In addition, the ratio of ballast to total weight is low. This makes the boat rock at the smallest waves. Even under anchor. It sails unsettled as a result. The twin rudders are fine and steer very easily. For the real sailor, I would go for something else. In terms of comfort, the boat does score high. Large cockpit and the fact that the back of the cockpit benches can be flattened, giving you a sun bed on either side, is great. To sum up: - Tubber was perfect - Animos Yacht Charter was super - Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440 is a moderate sailor for when you care. Comfort is high though. - Boat was old, damaged and smelly because of the toilets.
