Discover the Saronic Gulf in Greece

During the one-week or two-week Tubber flotillas from Athens, you can sail along on the mothership of the flotilla. You will sail to the Saronic islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra. It is a perfect sailing area for short distances, there is often a constant and reliable wind and beautiful islands. These sunny Saronic Gulf flotillas always start on Saturdays from Alimos, the largest marina in Athens. The wind is quite constant during this period, with gusts between 3 and 5 Beaufort.

Sail along in a cabin charter during your holiday in Athens

Sail along in a cabin charter during your holiday in Athens

Do you have little or no sailing experience yourself or aren't yet experienced enough to stand behind the helm independently? Then we also offer cabin charter holidays. You sail, alone or with family/friends, aboard the mothership in the flotilla. So you sail along under the direct supervision of experienced skippers. The flotilla leaders, your skippers, will often be busy in the morning. They help the other boats on their way and tell them where the journey will take them that day. For you, this means a moment to yourself until they are ready themselves. So feel free to have a nice breakfast on a terrace, go for a swim or go shopping... When all or most of the boats have sailed, you also leave. The flotilla leader will often be the last to depart the harbour, but likes to be the first to return to its destination, to help the other flotilla yachts dock again. During the day you often sail for about 4 to 5 hours, possibly anchoring in between for a refreshing dive or snorkeling session. The destination is therefore different every day. One time you are in a gorgeous village and the other time you spend the night in a clear blue bay. The group will regularly have a bite to eat together in the evening, which is also a great moment for the children and teenagers present to meet up again.

Experienced flotilla guidance

At Tubber you get the best service! Our flotilla guides are passionate and experienced sailors.

Quality yachts

Young and very well maintained yachts. All yachts in the Tubber flotilla are from 1 owner, so we can offer the best service with our own service during the flotilla.

All in Tubber package

All yachts in the Tubber flotilla have an all-inclusive flotilla package. Outboard motor, towels, linen, final cleaning and a welcome pack, it's all included!

The flotilla guidance

Of course, a successful sailing holiday depends on the weather, the sun, the sea and the flotilla guidance. In addition to conviviality, safety is of course very important during the sailing holiday. During your cabin charter holiday you will sail with professional Dutch-speaking guidance on the mother ship. They also plot the route (with input from the participants) and keep an eye on the weather for everyone. During these weeks it differs who you sail with. However, they're all eager to give you a great experience in Greece.

Example route

This route is an example route. The route can be changed based on factors like the weather.
Old part of Athens where you can wander around on the first or last day

Day 1

Check in at Alimos / Athens
Today you'll be able to join the flotilla leaders. They're already there so anytime in the afternoon is fine, then leave your luggage behind so you can grab a terrace or score your first Greek salad while they welcome the other members of the flotilla. You can recognize the Tubber flotilla boat by the large Tubber flag.
The port of Aegina, suddenly you are in authentic Greece

Day 2

Athens – Aegina
Like every flotilla of ours, you start the day with an extensive briefing. What can you expect, where are we going, what should you take into account... as much as possible is discussed. Then, let's go! Though you'll likely leave last since the guidance helps the others sail out. Today we'll go to the island of the pistachios, Aegina. On arrival at the port, the nuts are offered to you and various pistachio products are available on the island.
Discover Epidaurus during a sailing holiday in Greece

Day 3

Aegina – Epidaurus
From the pistachios we'll go to Epidaurus, also known for its huge theater (seating 14,000 people) which is the best-preserved theater in Greece and is still used for performances in the summer. If you want to visit the theater, do this the next morning when it is not so hot, then we can go to the beach for a swim on arrival first!
Vathi, a very small town on the Methanon peninsula

Day 4

Epidaurus – Vathi
For the enthusiast, you can visit the theater in the morning. We have planned a short distance for today, because we don't like to rush during the holidays. Today we go to Vathi, a very small town on the Methanon peninsula. The only place in this area with a shower is in the harbour (aka a garden hose on a tree, how authentic do you want it) and the restaurant is at the end of your dock. So you can roll home tonight…
Poros, a cozy Greek town with a nice boulevard with countless bars

Day 5

Vathi – Poros
Poros, a pleasant Greek town with a nice boulevard with countless bars, restaurants, shops and beautiful (super) yachts. Here we can immediately supply the boat for the coming days. If you want to enjoy the beautiful view that Poros has to offer, walk to the church on top of the mountain. In the evening we will enjoy the real Greek specialties!
The kids can chill out with their Ipad on the boat

Day 6

Poros – Dhokos
The shopping has been done, today we go to Dhokos and spend the night on this uninhabited island. We make a large raft from the boats, we cook on board and we eat on board (on our own boat or together). After dinner, we can have a nice swim, enjoy the starry sky and sleep in this beautiful bay. The ultimate 'I'm alone in the world' feeling!
After a wonderful day sailing

Day 7

Dhokos – Porto Cheli
Grab the dinghy or come swimming, today's briefing will take place aboard the mothership. Because there is not a single café in this area. The destination of today is Porto Cheli, a short boat ride (10 miles). We try to arrive on time, so that we can get a nice quay spot. Otherwise just anchor and dinghy to the side, which is nice too! A popular place partly because of the beautiful cocktail and wine bars, good restaurants and luxury resorts.
En route while sailing to Astrous

Day 8

Porto Cheli – Astrous
We'll also go to the other side of the Argolic Gulf, to Astrous. A large pier that protects the boats from the open sea. There is also a beautiful beach with restaurants with delicious fish! After dinner, don't forget to grab a cocktail at the cocktail bar on the corner of the pier.
Upon entering the harbor you pass a large fortress near Nafplion on a small island

Day 9

Astrous – Nafplion
We go to the ancient and first capital of Greece, Nafplion. You see something of the rich history everywhere. As soon as you enter the harbour you pass a large fortress on a small island. If you like this... go to the top of the mountain where you can find a huge fortress dating back from the Venetian occupation. Please note, it takes 857 steps to see this up close, so put on your walking shoes.
Along the way you will have time to anchor, swim and have lunch

Day 10

Nafplion - Khiladia
Ever heard of Turtle Bay? It's real name is Khiladia. We can almost say, when you visit Khiladia you get a turtle guarantee. We will anchor here freely, and while having a drink on the aft deck you will certainly see a turtle's head emerge from the water. So be careful not to land on a turtle when you jump off to swim…
Ermioni the picturesque village where we will spend the night with a group of the flotilla

Day 11

Khiladia  – Ermioni
On the other side of the bay is a huge cave, just 5 minutes away by dinghy, where we will have the briefing today. After the briefing we'll go to Ermioni (the north side), a quiet side of the village. In the south are the bars and the many boats. In the north we find the oldest taverna of the Argo/Saronic Gulf. This one is over 100 years old! So tonight we have delicious food and you can always look up the fun on the other side of the hill if you wish.
Restaurant tables by the water in Russian Bay, Athens

Day 12

Ermioni – Russian Bay
Tonight we eat on board again, so stop by the butcher in Ermioni. Via the strait of Poros we will pass the town and we will drop anchor in a beautiful bay. We tie up our boats to the rocks and then eat on board. Of course, we also go for a swim here after dinner!
In Perdika we are at the pier with the boats

Day 13

Russian Bay - Perdika
Tomorrow we will sail to Athens again, but today we will go to a very nice small fishing village Perdika. In a nice restaurant located next to the yachts we will enjoy a delicious Greek meal.
Last day of sailing from Perika to Athens

Day 14

Perdika – Athens
The final tour, 22 miles back to Athens. Spotting some dolphins and with half wind in the sails due to a predominantly northwest wind, this makes for a wonderful sailing trip. Keep in mind the freight traffic in the fairway to Pireaus.
We fly from Athens back to Amsterdam after the sailing holiday

Day 15

Check out
Today it's time to go home again. Or maybe you have a few extra days of vacation left to visit Athens.
