What sailing experience do I need for flotilla sailing in Greece? To sail with yourself in a flotilla in Greece, you must have sailed as a skipper on a sailing yacht. It doesn't matter whether it was a bareboat (alone) or in a flotilla. A boat licence is not always required.

The flotilla in the Dodecanese starts from Kos. The Dodecanese area is on the east side of Greece and borders Turkey. With this location, there is a long summer that starts early and ends late. This flotilla is suitable for experienced sailors and less experienced sailors. In October, our flotilla starts sailing along with the northern islands of the Dodecanese. The area consists of 12 islands, and with this sailing route, we pass most of these beautiful islands. The port of Kos is fully equipped and is approximately 26 kilometers from the airport. The starting place, Kos, is a city with much to experience and worth a walk-in for a day. We start sailing in a northerly direction to Kalimnos and continue our journey from there. Please note: the two-week flotilla starts in Athens and finishes in Kos :)

Are the flotillas of Greece suitable for children?

Yes, all flotillas offer opportunities for both young children and young adults. The east side along the Ionian Sea is slightly calmer sailing water and ideal for sailing with (young) children! Also, during the flotillas from Athens there is much to do and many opportunities for young adults to indulge in the many entertainment venues.

What are the average daily distances of the flotilla from Greece?

The average daily distances during all Greece flotillas are between 10 and 30 miles. Outside the high season (when fewer children are traveling), longer distances are often planned. Of course, all subject to weather conditions and the wishes of the group.

Do I sail independently in a flotilla or always with the group?

In the flotilla you sail under the pleasure and convenience of an experienced mothership, you are not expected to constantly sail along with the group. Feel free to take a dip in a self-discovered bay.

What is a cabin charter holiday?

If you've got little to no sailing experience yourself or aren't yet experienced enough to stand behind the helm independently, we also offer cabin charter holidays. You sail, alone or with family/friends, aboard the mothership in the flotilla. A flotilla consists of a group of sailing yachts that all sail the same route, under the guidance of experienced flotilla supervisors. So you can board and join them on their yacht, alone or with your family or friends and sail along.

What does your day look like when you join a cabin charter from Athens?

This varies a lot because every day looks different :) What we do know is that in the morning the flotilla leaders, your skippers, are often busy. They help the other boats on their way and tell them where the journey will take them that day. For you, this means a moment for yourself until they're ready themselves. So grab breakfast on a terrace, swim or shop... When all or most of the boats have sailed, you leave too. The flotilla leader will regularly be the last to leave, but would like to be the first to return to its destination, to assist the other flotilla yachts again with mooring. During the day you will often sail around 4 to 5 hours, possibly dropping anchor in between for a refreshing dive or snorkeling session. The destination is therefore different every day. One time you'll be in a beautiful village and another you will spend the night in a clear blue bay. The group will regularly have a bite to eat together in the evening, which is also a nice moment for the children present to meet with each other again.
