Sailing holiday for the experienced and less experienced sailor

The flotilla in the Dodecanese starts from Kos. The Dodecanese area is on the east side of Greece and borders Turkey. With this location, there is a long summer that starts early and ends late. This flotilla is suitable for experienced sailors and less experienced sailors. In October, our flotilla starts sailing along with the northern islands of the Dodecanese. The area consists of 12 islands, and with this sailing route, we pass most of these beautiful islands.

The port of Kos is fully equipped and is approximately 26 kilometers from the airport. The starting place, Kos, is a city with much to experience and worth a walk-in for a day. We start sailing in a northerly direction to Kalimnos and continue our journey from there.

Please note: the two-week flotilla starts in Athens and finishes in Kos :)

Discover Levitha

One of the stops during the flotilla is the island of Levithan. The island is not yet uninhabited; you experience it here as if you are away from civilization. A family that lives on the island runs a restaurant in their garden. When people dock on the island, the backyard becomes a restaurant, and simple but tasty food is made. The people on the island live mainly from the goats that are kept. Once a week, a small supply ship comes along that brings, among other things, cattle feed. Because the island has no light pollution, the evenings with clear skies are beautiful.

Dutch flotilla guidance

No doubt, a successful sailing holiday depends on the weather, the sun, the sea and professional flotilla guidance. In addition to cosiness, safety is, of course, essential during your sailing holiday. The guidance of this flotilla is in Dutch. Every day you receive an extensive briefing about the weather, the route and the beautiful places where you can have lunch or swim. There is no fixed flotilla guidance during these weeks, so that may vary, but they are all looking forward to giving you a great experience in Greece.

Boat mooring at scaffold

Day 1

Kos – Vathy
The first day is a short distance. However, this distance makes a world of difference in the environment. We leave the busy island of Kos and start the journey to the beautiful town of Vathy. We sail between the mountain walls to Vathy. The water is very clear and perfect for swimming. In the large mountain walls, there are small caves that are great to discover. With the beautiful view of Vathy, there is nothing better than ending the day with dinner by the water. Together, you talk about your experiences of the first day of sailing.

Day 2

Vathi - Lipsi
The second day we leave beautiful Vathi behind and sail east towards Lipsi. Before we leave, we first ensure that we bring enough fruit and vegetables for the journey. We sail out of the fjord and go into the big water and sail a beautiful stretch to Lipsi. Arriving in the new place, we explore the village and enjoy a delicious Greek dinner in the evening.

Day 3

Lipsi – Agathonissi
Day three arrives, and we leave from Lipsi to the island of Agathonissi. It is a small island with relatively little to do. Nevertheless, the bay is beautiful. We put the boats on the small quay where there is only room for a few yachts. The beach is right next to the boat. The rest of the day you can relax, sunbathe and snorkel. After spending the afternoon on the beach, we go out for dinner in a restaurant. Before we leave, a walk can be done in the morning to a high point. From here there is a fantastic view over the bay, and our boats are visible, certainly an image to capture.

Day 4

Agathonissi – Fournoi
Nisidhes Fournoi is an island group that consists of uninhabited and inhabited rock formations. The coast has several hidden gems of beaches and beautiful bays that are located in one of the many coves. Discover these beautiful deserted spots or navigate between the rock formations and enjoy all the beauty that Fournoi has to offer.

Day 5

Fournoi – Levitha
Today is the longest sailing route, we depart from Fournoi and sail towards Levitha. After our trip, we arrive at Levitha around the end of the afternoon. Only a handful of people live on the island, and there are few facilities, so this is the only island on our route where there is no mobile reach. A family lives on the island that runs a small restaurant. For the visitors to the island, they make a few simple but tasty dishes. Because the island is so remote and uninhabited, there is no light pollution. That means with a clear night you can enjoy the starry sky.

Day 6

Levitha – Leros
The pre-last day of our 7-day flotilla and we sail to the island of Leros. The island looks slightly different than all previously visited islands. This is due to Italian influences. Due to the occupation in the Second World War, buildings are in both Greek and Italian style. This combination of architecture gives the island a beautiful and unique appearance. In addition to the difference in architecture, the island also differs in the amount of greenery and flowers. "In the evening we go out for dinner together in one of the restaurants on the cosy boulevard of Leros.

Day 7

Leros – Kos (end of 7-day flotilla)
The last day has arrived, but luckily there is a beautiful big piece to sail. During the trip back to Kos, you can fully enjoy the Greek waters and the space that we have on this route. After these last nautical miles, we can moor our yachts once more. When we arrive at Kos, we finish the week together and go out for dinner once more, and we look back on this wonderful week of sailing. After seven days this is the last night in your yachts, with the adventures of the past week still fresh in your memory you fall asleep again on the boat with the sound of the water in the background.
